Project Reveal: Modern Haven Remodel Pt.I

This project has come a long way from where we first started and has been in the works for over a year! It’s finally finished and I’m so excited to share this stunning transformation! Our client has always loved this area of Utah so when they were looking for their forever home they already had a good idea of where they wanted to be. They found the most gorgeous property tucked away from any main roads where they could set down roots that included an existing home with lots of potential. Our client has always had a love for simple, modern design and the home sitting on the property needed some work to get to that point. The home had great, mid-century modern bones that would be a perfect fit with our clients wishes of a more modern home. We kept the main footprint of the home but made a complete 180 by replacing a lot of outdated finishes and colors that needed some refining. Take a look at how these first areas of the home have taken shape!

Entry

When you first walk into the home, you’re greeted with a beautiful open area with vaulted ceilings that makes this space feel grand. Our primary focus was on creating a beautiful moment the second you walked up to the home. Our client wanted a little more privacy, so we replaced the glass door with a solid wood door that made more of a statement, while still feeling effortless. We designed a large custom door with vertical grooves that added a subtle detail in a modern way. I love how the brass Rocky Mountain door hardware has a simple, yet over-sized design that feels proportional to the size of the door. We were able to create a focal statement with a beautiful chandelier that fills the large open space and draws your eye right as you walk in.

The entry has a long hallway design so we had a lot of space we needed to fill, while still keeping a simple and modern approach to the selections and the placement. Because the ceiling has an upward slant, you’re greeted with a very tall open wall right as you walk in. Our client has a love for artwork so we knew this could be the perfect opportunity to add height with an oversized original piece. We used her existing console and added symmetrical lighting to create a focal point along this open space.

Dining

The dining room sits right off of the entry so we knew we wanted this space to have some depth and personality. Because this room has a dropped ceiling and a cozier feel, we did away with the red walls and went with a dark blue grasscloth wallpaper with a modern line design. I love the way it brings a moody feel to the room! Another statement chandelier sits above a large custom table where many friends and family can gather together. To contrast with the darker feel of the space, we brought in lighter materials like the rug, artwork and drapery that stand out against the walls. Can we even believe the transformation of this room?
